DB2/400:
(following is preliminary information which requires work)
DB2/400 is basically the AS/400 version of DB2 and it has been marketed by IBM as part of UDB (universal database) for a while.
Actually DB2/400 is however a bit different from DB2 as you find it on Unix (Linux, AIX, ...) or Windows.
Magic supports this database with several gateways:
- ISAM access to DB2/400 with eDeveloper running on Windows
- SQL access to DB2/400 with eDeveloper running on Windows
- ISAM access to DB2/400 with eDeveloper running on OS/400
- SQL access to DB2/400 with eDeveloper running on OS/400
- ISAM access to DB2/400 with eDeveloper running on Linux
- SQL access to DB2/400 with eDeveloper running on Linux
(not sure if there's both gateways on Linux; needs to be checked)
MSE "fully supports" OS/400.
This means: There's not only database gateways to DB2/400, there's also the possibility to run Magic applications "natively" on the AS/400.
Actually Magic/400 is the AIX version of Magic "ported" to the AS/400.
Everything required for Magic/400 on the AS/400 then is PASE (Portable Application Solutions Environment).
