Combit List & Label

Combit List & Label is a professional tool for extensive reporting, label-, chart- and form-printing and webreporting.
It allows interactive forms (enable user input during print preview) and MailMerge functionality (by using the RTF object).
Natively supported export and conversion formats are: PDF, HTML, RTF, Excel, MHTML, XML, JPEG, GIF, BMP, EMF, TIFF, CSV...

Report Designer

The professional edition of this tool allows you to deploy the report designer with your application with no additional royality fees.

License / Costs

Standard and professional edition are licensed per developer; there's (and never have been) no runtime fees. Webreporting is licensed by concurrent users; 5 concurrent users are included with the professional edition. For further information check the vendors website.

Integration

Combit List & Label ships as ActiveX, VCL (Delphi), .NET component and as a set of DLLs. While .NET and VCL allow a data bound mode, ActiveX and DLL do offer a database independent mode only - which however has some advantages and which is particular easy to intgrate with eDeveloper. (Note: Due to some limitations in Magic's implementation of ActiveX event sinks, it is not possible to use some of the ActiveX functionality)

supported development environments

List & Label has a long list of supported development environments and ships with at least one sample for each of these. Magic (eDeveloper) did not yet make it into this list - at least you can however meanwhile tell the vendor about Magic if you download an evaluation and answer the vendor's question "With which environment do you program the most?". "Magic" is an option there :-)

Samples

DLL interface

Print a Label with List&Labels;
Requires Magic >= v8 and List & Label v9
Note that support for calling conventions changed with Magic v8.3 and that all CallDLLs need to be replaced by CallDLLSs.
All List & Label DLLs use calling convention "Standard".

A more complete sample of basically the same: print (product labels) including barcodes with List & Label (v12) by usage of DLL interface.
Sample shows how to integrate the designer, how to make changes of a user to printer configuration persistent, ...
Requires eDeveloper v9.4 and List & Label v12
